10 Years of Horse & Carriage.

Yes it was our 10th Wedding Anniversary on Friday, and DH took a day off to be with me. 10 years traditionally is.....tin. Hmph, not very glamorous. So I wrapped all his pressies up in tin foil - how easy is that to do in a rush! I made a romantic envelope for his vintage Anniversary card. An old vintage tin.....A Cornish tin St. Christopher, engraved on the back. The tin is 'Shipwreck' tin from the SS Liverpool which sank in 1863. And a huge 1970's Sweetie Shop Tin full of 'old school' sweeties!!!! Yum Yum Yum - DH is such a big fan of sweeties - he was so happy - like a kiddie in a sweet shop!!!! A lovely print from The Black Apple entitled " As Long As I Have You" - and these two characters remind me so much of us as a young couple - the three parachutes in the background a reminder of our three precious arrivals somewhere on the horizon. (excuse the flash) I dug out a few mementos for the day and rediscovered this - a beautiful scrapbook my mum made for me and surprised me with when I returned from my honeymoon - isn't it lovely? She had collected everything and I mean everything possible from our wedding day! This is one of our Wedding Invites which DH and I slaved over night upon night - a message in a bottle. i wanted something really different (at the time it was) - and something I could persuade the Post Office to send. We had a Fairy themed wedding, original for its time, so we had little fairy place settings with a named scroll, that opened up to reveal a personalised fairy spell - where did we find the time???? So, what did DH get me you ask? These.........and at a meal that night he whisked me away for the weekend to the most exclusive hotel and spa I have ever been to. It was amazing and beautiful - just like him. Thank you DH for all that you are. TTFN xxxx

The Shame of my Garage

WARNING: YOU ARE NOT ABOUT TO VIEW A PRETTY BLOG - FAR FROM. Revealing this darkside to my fellow bloggers is part of my therapy following my deep anxiety about becoming unhealthily obsessed with plastic coat hangers. Ladies and Gentlemen I present Marble Rose's Garage. Alright, off you go, have a rummage....oh....you'd rather not. OK. Some of you may have read that I rent my house, this is the third one in two years, don't ask. They are beautiful houses, but some things just don't 'fit' literally, or they just don't 'fit in' to some places. Therefore, ALOT of stuff stays in my garage. Can you see my lovely SMEG? No room for my beloved fridge freezer here. I don't like to talk about it. Oh and the piano - no room. ........sniff. But of recent I am rediscovering stuff I had totally - utterly - completely forgotten about. What's terrible is I am now buying things I already have which typically a few weeks later I unearth in said abyss of 'treasures' It's like going to a carboot, but with stuff I love and it's free!!!!! I just love this light - I think it may be Italian? I wish the detailing was better in this picture, it is so delicate. But alas - no electric tampering in a rented home. I used to hang these old Victorian Adverts for washing powder and soap in my utility room, but we don't bother hanging pictures anymore, because when we leave we have to re-plaster the walls.Lovely old crates with all sorts of material.Books - don't even go there girlfriend (boyfriend) (?) I don't really bother unpacking most of my china bits, but sometimes on a rainy day, I lucky dip for something.A needle point of HM's Coronation, wish I could find a place for this (sigh). Obviously there is the usually tat - cat litters, car seats, buckets and spades that we buy every time we go on holiday - but occasionally I find something really great! NOTE TO SELF: I am I am I am going to rescue my collection of antique board games and dolls this week and find them a home. Some things belong in the garage. I have no idea why I bought this orange 1960's chair. Although you do feel a bit like you are on Big Brother when you sit in it. So then, time to get outta here.........what did you find? I found this...... Something to keep the sun off my aging brow, oh look the sun's going in, I'll put it back in the garage. TTFN xxxxx

Hanger On a Minute!!!

I think it's a bit weird and alot wrong to be so happy about a Clothes Horse - but I am, I'm really happy, I love it. So here's why I love it - added to the fact it is an old one, a wooden one, wait for it.....it has strips of eggshell plastic on the bars. Then it occurred to me - I COULD HAVE BLUMMIN' DONE THAT - and saved myself....well alot of pennies. So if you like what you see - top tip - don't be a fool like me and get yourself some sticky oil cloth and DIY!!!!! Equally as distressing is my reaction to these.... I practically jumped up and down like a winning contestant on a silly game show when I found these at a fete and saw they only cost 50p for the lot. They are nice though aren't they ? Just nod, I may be dangerous - I'm starting to worry.I had the alphabet one as a child - but I had no idea there was a collection to be had!!!!The hooks even swivel so you can hang them on doors etc. Oh dear lord - what has become of me? Milkman's Here!!!!

I love this repro sign I bought on holiday, which reminded me that I really should drink more milk, but more importantly I wanted to do this blog! I picked up this cute little milk float at a CS the other day with youngest - she adored it, oh for at least a day! I think it is handmade. Hmm, just noticed it's falling apart a bit, must mend and make do! And look what he has delivered!Unlike youngest's fickle fancies, my love for old milk bottles never wavers. Do you remember these? They look so pretty on my window sill with a few wild flowers in. I wish they still did these, but I suppose Dairy Crest would never get them back, not from me anyway, although I'd be more inclined to drink milk. Sometimes we would even get fizzy from our milkman.....This Coke one is from 1981 and commemorates The Royal Wedding (10p carboot, oh how I've missed the boots) I have to say I'm more likely to drink this than milk - bad bad bad! Great to be back guys/gals!!!! TTFN xxxxxxx
